When accessing Gale's Power Search the user will choose between Professional/Adult Interest Resources or Student and Children's Resources k-12. The search engine pulls up hundreds of relevant items under magazines, academic journals, books, news or multimedia.
Critical Evaluation: Gale is an excellent database for information. I have found it very useful in getting accurate and pertinent information for projects such as biographies. Sometimes the user will need to limit the search because hundreds, if not thousands, of items might be pulled up and it's cumbersome. The cost of subscribing to the databases is high. For example, the Mission Viejo Library subscribes to five databases: Biography Resource Center, Business & Company Resource Center, General Reference Center Gold, Literature Resource Center and Opposing Viewpoints at $24,000.00 per year. The cost is high but the library averaged over 12,000 searches per month.
